Today, a successful event took place. Online Event: Danube and Black Sea Ports – New Opportunities for Ukrainian Agro-Exports
Ukraine, being one of the leading producers and exporters of grain, faced a significant production decline due to Russia’s full-scale invasion in February 2022. Thanks to the working grain corridor, about half of Ukraine’s agricultural exports are conducted through Black Sea ports, a quarter through Danube ports, and a quarter through the western border. At today’s event, the key issue facing Ukrainian exporters and international partners was discussed: how to achieve pre-war levels of exports and reach the most distant countries in the world. In times of conflict, such as the ongoing war in Ukraine, the role of Danube and Black Sea ports in supporting agricultural exports can be particularly challenging yet crucial for supporting the economy and ensuring food security.
Elena Fesenko, General Manager of EEN-Ukraine, moderated the event. Speakers at the event included:
- Yuriy Pischalo, Head of Commercial Operations and Development Department at “Renish Sea Trade Port,” who spoke about how the Renish port continues its operations despite all the difficulties associated with the war.
- Olga Shubina, coordinator of the EEN-Ukraine consortium, discussed the opportunities and prospects offered by the EU-Ukraine Solidarity Lanes platform.
