Multimodal Transport within the Solidarity Lanes for Access to Global Markets

On December 17, 2024, an online event titled “Multimodal Transport within the Solidarity Lanes for Access to Global Markets” was held as part of the EU-Ukraine Solidarity Lanes Business Matchmaking Platform. This platform was initiated by the European Commission to support the export and import activities of Ukrainian companies.

The primary goal of the event was to discuss the role and potential of multimodal transport in strengthening trade ties through the EU-Ukraine Solidarity Lanes, with a focus on supporting Ukraine’s access to global markets, particularly emphasizing the Single Market.

Key topics addressed during the event:

• The structure of multimodal and intermodal transport systems.
• Opportunities and prospects for leveraging Ukrainian Railways (Ukrzaliznytsia) for multimodal transportation.
• Needs, opportunities, and advantages of developing multimodal transport between the EU and Ukraine.
• Infrastructure development for multimodal transport in the EU and Ukraine.

Speakers included:

• A representative from DG MOVE, European Commission.
• Representatives of the Ministry for Communities, Territories, and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine.
• A representative of JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia.”
• Representatives from Nova Poshta.
• Business representatives who shared their practical experiences in multimodal transport.

Olena Fesenko, General Manager of the EEN-Ukraine Consortium, presented the opportunities provided by the EU-Ukraine Solidarity Lanes Business Matchmaking Platform. The event was moderated by Olha Shubina, Coordinator of the EEN-Ukraine Consortium.
