“EU-Ukraine Solidarity Lanes” platform

May 2024

The “EU-Ukraine Solidarity Lanes” platform is an initiative launched by the European Commission and moderated by the EEN-Ukraine consortium, which brings together Ukrainian exporters and importers with logistics providers and buyers from the EU.

The platform aims to support the Ukrainian economy and ensure global food security. This initiative promotes the creation of alternative logistic routes via rail, roadways, and inland waterways, as well as the revival and support of Ukraine’s agro-trade. The importance of “Solidarity Lanes” lies in facilitating the export of Ukrainian goods, especially grains, which are crucial for global food security.

The platform contributes to the implementation of one of the measures outlined in the “EU-Ukraine Solidarity Lanes Action Plan.” It unites businesses from the EU and Ukraine with the goals of:

  • Identifying new logistic chains for exporting and importing products and materials to/from Ukraine.
  • Finding new partners for logistics and international trade.
  • Exchanging ideas on solutions and initiatives to rethink logistics and supply chains, adapt infrastructure, and deliver necessary equipment and machinery to the required locations.

The platform focuses on the following sectors:

  • Logistics sector: sales, procurement, transportation, storage, handling.
  • Production and processing: agriculture and food products, raw materials, etc.
  • Export and import of agricultural products: wheat, corn, barley, sunflower, sugar beets, legumes, fruits and vegetables, etc.
  • Export and import of food products: oil, meat, milk, sugar, flour, beverages, bakery and confectionery products, etc.
